What is Compute Engine?

Compute Engine is Google Cloud's virtual machine service. You choose CPU, memory, disk, and operating system, and launch a Windows or Linux server within minutes. Servers are billed per second, can be resized on demand, and are protected with snapshots and backups.

Frequently asked questions

How is a Windows Server license billed?

Windows Server images on Compute Engine can be used with the license fee included. In some cases, you can also bring your own license. We assess eligibility together based on your license terms.

Can my existing server be migrated as is?

In most cases, yes. Using Google's migration tools, virtual or physical servers can be copied to Compute Engine without major changes. We test it in a test environment first, then migrate.

Will the server run slowly from Türkiye?

Latency from European regions to Türkiye does not cause issues for most business applications. For very latency-sensitive applications, we measure first and then decide.
