What is Cloud SQL?

Cloud SQL is Google Cloud's managed relational database service. It supports the MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server engines. Google takes care of tasks such as automatic backup, point-in-time restore, patch management, and high-availability across regions. You focus on using the database.

Is it possible to move off Oracle?

For many applications, migration to PostgreSQL-compatible AlloyDB is possible, but it should first be reviewed whether the application uses Oracle-specific features. After the assessment, we show license savings and conversion effort together.

How is my database backed up?

Cloud SQL takes automatic daily backups and supports restoring to a specific point in time. We configure the retention period and any additional backup copy to your needs.
